Architecture in relation to human scale.

BASIC RESEARCH:

We ventured into the heart of the city to search for anything in relation to the 6 key phrases.

20170531_161830 — (1) The lanterns in China Town represented an urban landscape. (2) The buildings were constructed so close together.

20170531_161834 — (3) A crowd in a compact environment. (4) The size of the building distinguished by the two humans.

20170531_161838 — (5) The lifestyle portrayed by the humans in a city. (6) A group of men having tea at a kopitiam.

OUTCOME:

A poster of compiled architectural photos taken in Berlin and KL, inspired by the Dada art movement.

“With the new phrases in mind, there was a satisfying sensation when we were searching for elements representing the human and urban landscape. It’s good to broaden our knowledge regarding this because it keeps you thinking and from there, you are able to consider improvements to a certain problem.”

ASSIGNMENT_2_LIGHT_AND_SHADOW

We needed to create a floor plan using shapes extracted from shadows of infrastructures. This was where we self-explored and initiated ideas for this assignment.

The top left picture was chosen for further exploration. Shapes within the photo needed to be experimented on through extension, distortion, flipping and resizing.
